Poynton and Stockport Moviemakers

About the Club

Formed in north Cheshire as the Stockport Cine Society in 1954, the club embraced video in the 1980's, changed its name to Poynton & Stockport Moviemakers to reflect the new technology, and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2004.

The last half-century has seen astonishing technological change in all aspects of life and particularly in the field of visually recording and editing events on film. Our older members recall with nostalgia 'proper' film, while they grudgingly acknowledge that there are some compensations in digital technology, in particular nonlinear editing programs!

The amazing advantages of nonlinear editing, using one of the many programs now available enable anyone with the desire, to produce home movies that family and friends actually want to watch. So, if you've just bought, or are thinking of buying a or camcorder, why not join us and delight in seeing the results of your work on a 90-inch screen; you'll be made very welcome.

On club nights there is spirited discussion and exchange of knowledge and ideas. Free personal help with your video editing is available to members as well as guidance and training on a one-to-one basis by arrangement. Group technical evenings are held periodically as the need arises.
